Hi there, I’m Emilio Barbero.
Imagine having a PR agency, graphic designer, social media consultant and a close friend in business in one person!
Some people call me E.
I’ve been fascinated by design since I was a child. As a trained commercial designer, I spent the first ten years of my professional career working with architects, furniture designers, and sales professionals.
Each experience enhanced my skills. But design was just the beginning. I also helped employers and clients develop business and marketing strategies to strengthen their brand and take their business to the next level.
That’s when I found my passion and created my signature process: Brand to Building™.
Today, I am proud to offer my unique approach to a wide variety of clients - people who value having a concierge designer and branding expert on their team.
I create engaging and unforgettable customer experiences, from start to finish. I can reignite an existing brand or create a fresh, new identity from a simple idea. After more than a decade, I still love watching people embrace bold new directions and attain greater business success.
Every project begins with a conversation.
We’ll discuss what you need, what I can do for you, and how I do it.
We’ll go over your needs, goals, limitations, challenges, where you are in the process, and your ideal outcome.
No two projects are exactly alike and we’ll work together to determine the best way forward.
We’ll go over ideas for your business name.
Often, this was already done once you came up with the idea for your business, but there is often room for improvement.
It’s important to choose a name that speaks to you. Your name is the foundation of your brand, and it should be amazing.
This is where we define who you are, or who you want to be.
Who is your audience?
What is your core message?
What makes your business stand out from the rest?
This is a key step in the process as it sets the direction and tone of your brand.
We’ll define your Mission and Vision and will begin to define the messages, colours, shapes and imagery that will form your visual identity.
Here’s where your brand takes shape in the form of logos, images, and key words that represent your business.
This is where your goals come into play as we work together to design and produce an ecosystem where your visual identity will thrive.
We’ll create a manual of brand implementation guidelines, logo design and applications in as many forms as we can imagine and will design all sorts of branded materials including: business cards, letterhead, car signs, uniforms, apparel, packaging, consumer good, labels, marketing materials (posters, postcards, pens, glassware, menus, report covers, tickets etc.) – and of course a custom branded website.
There are many different types of website. Some inform visitors about your products and services.
Others educate people about what you do, how you do it, and why they should choose you over your competition. Some websites showcase your work, while others generate leads and / or act as an online store.
Building on your brand, we begin by defining the goals of your website so we can create a custom design that meets your needs and that speaks directly to your target market. We’ll also make sure your copy is optimized for SEO so your website will rank for search engines.
We build additional exposure for your brand through signage and complementary graphics for your car, building and interior space.
With a formal education and extensive experience in the field of interior design, I am able to produce branded interior design for your office, restaurant, store, business, or stand. This doesn’t mean putting your graphic identity on every surface. It’s more about creating a space that communicates your values and vision.
We’ll work together to choose colours for walls, finishes for floors and surfaces, as well as furniture and accessories. Not all clients require this step, but it is a service I am pleased to offer.
I bring your brand to life with tangible and digital materials, goods and promotional products including:
You’ve got all the pieces in place, now it’s time to tell the world – with a particular focus on your target audience.
I’ll make sure your business gets seen and create cross promotions that get your business venture off to a phenomenal start or attain the next level of success. I’ll showcase your offerings through things like press releases, media exposure, social media marketing, conference and trade shows, networking events, digital marketing and blog writing.
Social media allows you to speak directly to your customers. It is a live communication channel where your audience can experience your brand and learn about your company 24 / 7. Harnessing the potential of social media requires time and expertise, which is why it is often overlooked by business owners and managers.
I help you manage your social media channels by creating content, monitoring your online presence, and managing feedback and online conversations. I like to tell a story, educate, and engage your audience in direct communication to build brand loyalty.
I can administer Instagram accounts, Facebook pages and groups, and Google business listings on your behalf.
As an entrepreneur or business owner you’ve probably worked with some or all of the following: graphic designers, web designers, interior designers, branding specialists, marketing agency account managers, social media managers, business coaches, and branding experts.
That’s a lot of hands touching your brand. And a lot of people for you to manage.
Brand To Building™ is the better way.
I work one-on-one with clients to create a powerful visual identity for your business. Together, we develop a plan to integrate it throughout every aspect of your marketing strategy. Once in place, I stay on your team to ensure it’s carried out to perfection.
Every business is unique, and every business owner is at a different stage of their entrepreneurial journey. That’s why Brand To Building™ is a flexible approach designed to meet your personal business goals.
After our initial meeting, we may decide that my expertise is only needed in a few key areas. Or, it may become clear that the best way forward is to complete the entire process. My goal is always the same: to create a comprehensive brand and marketing strategy that will take your business to the next level of success.
The most important step is to start the conversation!
Here is a recent example of my signature process
Brand to Building™
Peter Cuddy and Helen Ready asked to meet with me to discuss a business idea they had. After a couple of meetings, we decided on the name. Then I created the tag line “Trace your food”. This was the beginning of our branding process. Later came the graphic identity and the creation of a logo that represented fresh, healthy wholesome food; I even named the symbol a “fruitsee” an amalgamation of a fruit and a seed. This came as part of the concept and the idea of serving fresh-made smoothies with additional nutrition supplements and grains.
Then came the uniforms and marketing products to connect with the target market we initially targeted the business to.
A few months later Peter and Helen had found a brick and mortar location. The brand’s logo and colours were carried out throughout the space: in the outdoor window signage, orange ceilings, chalk menus, uniformed staff, branded cups, and interior space.
Now that the business is opened, I promote their business and maximize their online presence by administrating their social media outlets such as Instagram and Facebook. I also design and procure their marketing materials such as business cards, postcards, posters, outdoor flags and street signage.
Today my clients Peter and Helen have a physical space, Facebook page, Instagram account, business products, and marketing materials that are consistently and seamlessly connected to their brand identity. Best of all, they are proud of their business and how it is represented to the public.
Emily and Aaron came to me asking to produce a logical store layout and construction drawings for their new venture. They dreamed of having a place for people to purchase running shoes and beers. Coming up with the tag line was easy; we decided on “Brews + Shoes”.
After getting to know Emily and Aaron, I gathered all their requirements for what seems to be one of the most innovative business concepts in the city. We started working on the interior layout of their store. Later, we explored their branding and graphic identity and came up with what it is today - a symbol for runners that like a beer after their runs.
Located in the West5 development on Oxford St. W on the way to Kilworth, I noticed that Backroads was the only beverage establishment for quite some distance. I urged Emily and Aaron to get a coffee machine and open earlier that what they had in mind. This worked out perfectly for them. Now they have a beautiful store that is licensed, sells running shoes and gear, and serves coffee. This has helped them reach a larger customer base, positively impact their bottom line, and establish themselves as a local hang out.
Wouldn’t it be great to have one trusted person who understands the ins-and-outs of your business, so you can focus on what you do best?
